Riversong Community Association Public Space Improvement Survey

June 30, 2025

Overview

This survey is collecting residents feedback regarding needed public space improvements in the Riversong Community Association area. You can submit feedback multiple times. Communities included are Riviera, Riversong, and Precedence.

Survey developed by Neil Egsgard with the Riversong Community Association Public Space Improvement working group.

Have your say on the use of public spaces in your neighbourhood. Participate in the survey by clicking the link below.

Background

As many residents know, the Riversong area currently has two play areas, with a third initially planned for Precedence by the developer. However, due to space constraints, the plans for Precedence Park were revised, raising concerns within the community.

In December 2024, with consultation from the Town of Cochrane Parks department , the Riversong Community Association conducted a survey to gather feedback from members about park planning priorities. The survey asked whether the community preferred focusing on a comprehensive master plan to improve the play areas across all three neighbourhoods, or if immediate attention should be given to creating a new play area in Precedence. The majority of responses favored a comprehensive plan, while ensuring Precedence remains a priority.

The next steps for this project are to form a working group, comprised of community association members. The working group will have input into the park's design and development, addressing the community's needs and priorities. The working group will work collaboratively with the Town of Cochrane's Parks Department and will be integral to community planning and development, ensuring that diverse perspectives are represented and incorporated into the decision-making process.

Join the Working Group!

We are looking for engaged community members to join the Riversong Park Planning Working Group. This group will play a key role in gathering community input, helping to define priorities for park spaces, and working alongside the Community Association and town representatives to ensure progress.

What's Involved?

  • Attending regular meetings (virtual or in-person) to discuss project updates and next steps.

  • Assisting in gathering feedback from the community through surveys, social media, or in-person engagement.

  • Helping to review and refine plans based on community needs and municipal regulations.

  • Collaborating with stakeholders, including the CA Board and town representatives, to move the project forward.

Your involvement will help shape the future of our park spaces and ensure that community voices are heard throughout the planning process.

If you're interested in participating, please complete the form linked above. Once submitted, we will review applications and follow up with next steps. Thank you for your interest in helping shape the future of Riversong’s park spaces!

Riversong Park Project Working Group Officially Launched

We are excited to announce the launch of the Riversong Park Project Working Group. The goal of this group is to:

  • Gather ideas from residents regarding requests for, and feedback on, public space improvements like improvements to playgrounds, pathways, and green spaces.

  • Lead the design and development of a green space, playground, or gathering area.

Spaces considered will be within the Riversong Community Association (RCA) boundary including Precedence, Riviera, and Riversong. Work will be done with direct engagement from members of the community and support from the Town of Cochrane.

The Precedence Playground space is a top priority.

The group is comprised of community volunteers as listed below:

  • Chair/Lead - Neil Egsgard

  • Vice-chair/Co-lead - Kirsten Horne

  • Engagement Lead - Nick Hazenberg

  • Site planning and Design Lead - Jessica Russell

  • RCA board Liaison - Andrea Hamm Manono

We hope this working group will bring the community together to help make the RCA area an even more vibrant and enjoyable place to live. The aim for this project is to be completed by summer 2027 depending on funding.

There will be a survey sent out in the coming days to gain community input into what the community would like to see with regards to local parks and open spaces.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
